Better Than Blarney?

Bored of Smokes? Luckily for you Blockley Pourhouse, the University City gastropub that was scheduled to open in March, will finally open tonight. Located on 38th and Ludlow, the Blockley (which was formally an almshouse, city hospital, orphanage and insane asylum) will offer 24 draft beers and pubfare such as lobster pierogies and poutine (although why we need the staple fast food from Quebec, I’m not sure). Determined not to become just another Local 44, the Blockley will also feature local bands and DJs nightly, kicking off with DJ Sammy Slice on opening night.

This is too scary! Don’t they realize that the ghosts of crazy orphans will do anything, ANYTHING, for lobster pierogies? Count me out.

Ew. Poutine sounds kind of nasty.

But hey, look at that inaugural post, Alissa Eisenberg! Way to rock out!

Are you serious? Just my luck, as soon as I graduate these places start opening.

And to address MG… poutine is awesome.

Tae, I will suspend my disbelief and give poutine a try sometime soon. And I will let you know what I think.

As anyone from Quebec will tell you, poutine is FANTASTIC

Fries, cheese, and gravy. How could you go wrong?

Wow i cant believe all of this hatred to the new place on the block. I actually stopped by Sunday to be blown away by a great acoustic set. I thought the the place looked great and food was even better. I would tell everyone to try this place.

I was there last night….great acoustic set as well. Had the Shrimp and Mussels….delicious. Menu is very reasonable as nothing is more than $15. Place looks awesome!
