No More Mandatory College House Phones
Penn STS (stands for Student Telephone Services, or Yet Another Department We Didn’t Know Had Their Own Website) just pulled a straight-up awesome move. For the 2010-2011 academic year, College House residents will have the option to purchase the in-dorm land line service, rather than be forced to shell out $30 a semester.
In true form, the UA has sort of tried to take some credit for it, but we’re not sure what straw actually broke the telephone’s back. What will you do with your new savings?

Well, we actually did get that project moving quite a bit this year (thanks to Emerson Brooking among others) so don’t be such a hater, UTB. Geez.
I interned at the Executive Vice President’s office summer of 2008 and wrote a proposal to remove landlines that was later presented to Housing and Facilities. So UA –
I would appreciate a little credit, too.
To borrow your language: In true, UTB once again hates on student government for merely existing and maybe even getting something done. To “Intern”, you probably should have gotten credit too, but I’d take your complaint to the DP and UTB. They’re the ones who are theoretically supposed to do research before writing something.
Ah, dare to dream…
And shall I also point out: http://dailypennsylvanian.com/article/mandatory-phone-bills-dropped
Wonderful to know that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing over at the DP/Street offices.
Yeah? UTB wrote the story a week ago and the DP wrote a story in their print edition today…what’s wrong with that?
