English Professor Goes Gentlemanly
Jay Kirk, who currently teaches Creative Non-Fiction Writing in the English Department, has published a long-form article in February’s GQ. The piece, entitled “Burning Man,” tells the story of a soldier in Afghanistan who is the victim of severe burns and recovers from his trauma with the help of an experimental painkilling video game treatment. Gamers are apparently saving the world in ways Jane McGonigal never could have imagined!
In all seriousness, it’s a fascinating and powerful read. So take a gander at this article by a professor who has majorly upped Penn’s level of national stylishness. Or pick up the February issue, featuring one very sexy Oscar nomineeĀ on the cover.
