What’s HapPENNing?

If St. Patrick’s Day is an indicator of Flings to come, then we feel safe saying that the rest of this semester will be something of a marathon for our livers. But let’s put the past behind us and look forward to all the très chic stuff happening on campus this week:

QPenn 2012: Do Ask , Do Tell
Who: Multiple groups; see above link
When and where:
March 18th-25th; see above link
Why: Penn is pretty gay (really!), and it’s because of awesome things like QPenn that the Penn community is seen to be one of the most socially progressive schools in the nation. From lectures to rainbow hamentaschen baking to drag makeup workshops, you’ll find plenty to do.

Grab A Slice With Governor Ed Rendell
Who: Penn Democrats
When and where:
Monday, 6:30-8 p.m.; Golkin Room (Houston Hall 2nd floor)
Why: He’s the Governor! And look at that expertly shopped picture. Perfect.

Fine Arts Senior Thesis Show Opening
Who: Senior Fine Arts Majors
When and where:
Tuesday, 5-8 p.m.; Addams Fine Arts Hall
Why: Penn kids do cool things, and art is…puhretty cool. Check out at all the neat stuff seniors in the honors Fine Arts program have been putting together at their show opening on Tuesday in Addams. In the meantime, check out the official website for a teaser of what to expect.

Bug Time Working Group No. 3: I Am Going To Drone You
Who: Kelly Writers House
When and where:
Tuesday, 7 p.m.; Kelly Writers House Arts Café
Why: Presented as part of KWH’s Creative Ventures series, the Bug Time Working Group is a shifting writers’ collective that creates written works under certain “contraint-based rituals and practices.” Huh. What? Cool! We’ll see you there.

SPEC Jazz and Grooves Launch Party
Who: SPEC Jazz and Grooves
When and where:
Thursday, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; The Castle (36th and Locust Walk)
Why: SPEC Jazz and Grooves has recently launched its website and is celebrating by putting on a concert at the Castle! Pretty sick, y’all. A must for people who lOoOoOoOove to show that they lOoOoOoOove trendy music.
