Someone Made A Quad Room Really Pretty

The internet revealed that these strikingly cleaned-up digs came about as part of a contest (that, unfortunately, is now over) from deal site UScoop. We thought it was totally random that pretty store Serena & Lily would do a shoot at Penn, but further digging revealed, yup, you guessed it: another e-venture by Penn kids.

UScoop, the contest’s sponsor, was founded by Penn grads and has been featured in such illustrious publications as TFM. They offer quality writing good deals a happy hour in New York tonight. Yeah, uh, UScoop, best of luck.

More pretty pictures after the jump, because we all miss the Quad a little bit. Read the rest of this entry »

Cities Compete To Take The Cake

Next week, Philadelphia’s Davio’s steakhouse will compete against New York City’s ‘Cesca restaurant to finally determine who has the best-placed apostrophe. Haha, not. In honor of National Cheesecake Day, the two Italian eateries are serving their signature cheesecake to prove once and for all that their respective city is home to the world’s best.

Each restaurant will ship their cheesecake desserts to the others’ restaurants with serving instructions. From Tuesday, July 26th, 2011 to Thursday, July 28th, 2011, guests that order the ‘Cheesecake War Dessert’ will be served 1/2 portions of both the Philly-favorite and ‘CESCA’s acclaimed New York dessert on a plate along with a comment cards. With the honor system at work, each restaurant will tally their numbers and announce the winner live on each other’s Twitter and Facebook pages along with a photograph of the losing restaurant’s general manager wearing the other city’s baseball jersey and eating a little humble pie.

The dessert special costs a Hamilton, and reservations are suggested at both locations.

Penn Kid Parties Thanks To Copa-Esque Bouncers In Hamptons

Yesterday’s New York Post featured a piece on the Hamptons bar Nello’s, which, according to 19-year-old “Eric,” is very easy on IDs. Eric, who is listed in the article as a Penn student, was “throwing back $27 shots of Patron tequila” and had come because Nello’s is “the perfect place if you want to meet girls who are DTF.” While this sounds like typical Penn douchebaggery, mystery surrounds this alleged Quaker.

Some people think they definitely know the kid, while other self-proclaimed members of the scene doubt he even goes here, saying that’s not how Penn does the Hamptons and Nello’s is no longer a thing. If you know Eric or have your own Nello’s experiences, let us know the deets.

Update: BusinessInsider picked up the story, too.
