A Raccoon Racket

Apparently, Philadelphia is dealing with a raccoon problem. Proposed “raccoon management” legislation, intended to protect people bothered by the masked creatures, is opposed by those who argue that the new policy is a form of animal cruelty.

Take a stand if you please, but we mainly wanted to alert the Penn student body: if you plan on dressing as a raccoon for Halloween, potential risks include trapping and relocation.

In Which Protesting Means You’re Actually Against Testing

If you were hanging around Fisher Bennett yesterday and felt like you encountered more hipster-clad individuals than the usual English majors that make their home there, you were right.

A group of animal rights advocates were out and about protesting Penn’s unethical treatment of animals in research. According to several local news sources, our university received a USDA warning last month following the deaths of several animals, all of which were attributed to the poor conditions at Penn research facilities.
