It’s October. Like, September is officially over. What! And while the passage of time is happening a little too quickly for some of us (hey seniors), it does spell one marvelous thing: fall. In addition to the standard pretty leaves and crisp weather, here are a couple on-campus reasons to smile.
Cider Pumpkin Bisque at White Dog
Fall = fall clothing = feeling classier = let’s go to White Dog. Their cider pumpkin bisque is a must if you’re willing to spend a little more on soup. Ditch ABP on a day you’ve got class down campus and go for the gold. Or orange. Or whatever color pumpkin bisque is.

…Bobby’s Burger Palace?
Clearly the folks at Bobby’s didn’t get the memo about Childers only taking a single semester off. Thanks for the Snapple fact, but we’re not looking for a new history professor at the mo’. Keep on tweetin’ on!
The empty retail space that resides next to Bobby’s Burger Palace looks sad and dull at the moment, but not for long. We spotted a zoning notice that says a new take-out place will open up shop at some point in the near future. We aren’t sure what the new place will be, but we do know that it is a chain with five other locations.
Stay tuned for further info…close-up of the zoning notice after the hump.

If you’ve gone to feed your burger craving lately you may have noticed that Bobby’s Burger Palace now has chairs and tables outside. Of course, they are in the establishment’s signature green and orange. They may look wimpy compared to neighbor Chipotle’s outdoor seating but don’t forget that unlike Chipotle, Bobby’s doesn’t impregnate you with a ten pound burrito baby upon every visit. Therefore, reinforced chairs are not necessary. Enjoy the weather before it gets brutal and get your burger fix outside while you still can.
Despite word that Bobby’s Burger Palace was officially opening tomorrow, it appears they’re doing a soft launch today. So yes, go get a burger now! (And meet Bobby.)
Thanks to Sam Bloom for this shot of Bobby wearing the official “Bobby’s Burger Palace West Philly” tee. We want one. Then again, we also want a burger.
Bobby’s Burger Palace is scheduled to open in the Radian tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Burger Palace’s namesake, Bobby Flay, was spotted on site today–training his restaurant staff. Flay, the long-time host of Food Network shows, has also been spotted grilling with Barack, disrespecting Iron Chefs, and throwing it down. Stay tuned for a UTB taste test of Bobby’s burgers later this week; in the meantime, swing by the Palace today and sneak a peak at the middle-aged, freckled celeb-chef.
Holy Cow! Remember the mythical, rumored burger joint Bobby Flay was maybe going to open in the Radian? Turns out it is totally happening. No one seems to have any dates, but such is the saga of most Radian retail.
Although we will probably have graduated about three years before Bobby’s Burger Palace opens, we will still pretend to be really excited! Mostly because we read on the BBP website that “Bobby also reminds you to get your burger crunchified, which means to top any BBP burger with crisp potato chips at no additional cost.”
Rumor has it Iron Chef Bobby Flay is bringing Bobby’s Burger Palace to Penn. Grub Street reports:
In an interview, Flay said he’s close to signing a deal for the fifth Burger Palace location and drops this clue: “all I can tell you is the next one is going to be in the state of Pennsylvania on the grounds of a university.” That would be the University of Pennsylvania, if our intel is correct. Where exactly might it go?We’ve heard Flay has been looking in University City, specifically at a space next door to a Chipotle in the Radian Building.
Check out more information about Bobby’s Burger Palace here. The menu, which includes griddled cheese sandwiches and chocolate malts, makes us hesitant to trust a certain UTB Editor who said of his/her experience with the Palace, “It was alright.”
We’ll keep you posted as this thing progresses.
