Drink At Drinker’s For Haiti

Feeling charitable and looking to booze? Allow us to recommend starting your weekend tonight at a benefit for Haiti, hosted by Penn’s senior societies and Seniors for the Penn Fund. The event starts at 9:30 p.m. at Drinker’s West, at 3900 Chestnut.

There’s a $10 cover, all of which goes to Partners in Health, and the drink deals are pretty sweet. Well drinks are $1 and beers are 50 cents.

Sounds good to us.

Would You Like Some Do-Goodness With Your Alcohol?

Alcohol for a cause.

Alcohol for a cause.

Though SPEC may only have official plans for Friday and Saturday, we all know this whole week is about Spring Fling. Which–who are we fooling?–really just means this week is about consuming copious amount of alcohol. But some of you might feel guilty taking that sixth shot of Absolut. Or maybe feel selfish for joining in the hedonism.

If only there were a way to satisfy both your thirst and your conscience.

Thanks to the BBB society and Beta Theta Pi, there are two ways: tomorrow (Tuesday) night the BBB society holds its annual fundraiser for autism research at Smoke’s and Thursday night Beta is presenting Nappy Roots at Club Roxxy to benefit Fibrodisplaysia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) research.

Because nothing makes a drink taste sweeter than a good deed.

Interested? More details after the jump.

Your Chance To Become A Big Vagina On Campus

Have you always wanted to be one of those girls who yells “Vagina!” on Locust Walk?  Well, you can do that of your own accord regardless of your gender or extracurricular affiliation, but if you’re a girl and you become part of Penn V-Day, you’ll be yelling about vaginas in good company.

Ah yes, this weekend brings auditions for V-Day/Vagina Monologues 2009.  V-Day is always one of the biggest events of the spring semester, and this year’s show benefits Women and Girls of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Participants usually end up being a mix of performing arts/a capella people, senior extracurricularmongers, and everyday exhibitionists, so joining has the added benefit of making you cool by association.

Auditions/registration for crew will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons in Houston Hall and Platt Performing Arts House.  Get all the deets on this event page, and while you’re there, take note that the mother of the show’s producer (senior Rachel Garber) has adorably posted a comment on the page’s wall.  How heart-warming…or perhaps vagina-warming.

Insomnia Cookies For A Good Cause

Attention cookie monsters:  50% of proceeds from all Insomnia orders tonight will benefit University City Hospitality Coalition’s soup kitchen.  Because you will likely need a snack at some point between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. anyway, may we suggest cookies?  Check out the Facebook event here and place your order here.
