BIKE SALE, GET YA BIKE SALE– Peep some cheap wheels outside of the Civic House (39th and Locust Walk) now. Head over before all the good ones are sold!
There’s no better cure for an ugly Tuesday than our one true love, Her Highness Amy G, popping up in the news. Asked about Penn’s responsibilities concerning West Philadelphia, our fearless president states in Zócalo that she’s “worked productively in partnership with our neighbors to strengthen the educational, cultural, and economic fabric of West Philadelphia and the greater Philadelphia region.” Discussing everything from philanthropy to Penn Park, Amy reminds us that our responsibility to Philly, and the world at large, is to continue using our resources to make good. Swoon.

The Honorable Judge Marjorie Rendell: she’s a federal judge on the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, she’s a Penn grad, and she’s coming to Civic House tomorrow afternoon as part of the Penn Women in Leadership Series to speak about her experiences in law and philanthropy. Be sure to
RSVP if you plan to attend and submit any questions you hope to have answered. More details after the jump!

Now that everyone’s totally into voting and getting involved in the community and stuff, it seems like a pretty good time to invest in a pair of TOMS Shoes. Anti-Poverty Action Week 2010 is coming up, and Civic House is kicking it off on November 14th with the TOMS Shoes “Style Your Sole” event, where you can order a pair of white TOMS shoes and decorate them while learning about social entrepreneurship and social impact organizations.
