Alas! What all you chilly little lads have been waiting for! The delicious pop shop on 44th has finally reopened its door to us. Now you can walk down Locust peeking outa that Kenny-from-South-Park puffer coat with popsicle in hand, lips frozen in sweet delight. Stop by after a Tampopo meal or bring some home for those cozy Sundays when you watch Girls and wonder why the hell it’s gotten so bad and why Hannah’s always naked.
And POP! go our hearts for this new eatery attempting to find a home in University City. Looks like the space formerly occupied by Unitea (where’d you go, huh?), is set to house Lil’ Pop Shop, a new gourmet popsicle shop. Featuring such exotic flavors as Vietnamese coffee and cucumber lime mint, the store is set to open in May under the ownership of Jeanne Chang, as the DP reports.
While this week’s heat certainly makes yummy popsicles sound appealing, we worry how many Penn students will venture out to 44th in place of cheaper options closer to campus. Time will only tell if Lil’ Pop Shop can outsell boxed Firecrackers at Wawa. We suggest cleverer jokes on the sticks.
