You might spot a few familiar faces contending for the title of Philly Mag’s Best of Philly 2012. You might not, though, which is why we’re gonna go ahead and point ‘em out for you.
First, we’ve got our very own (we use this phrase loosely as only about 5% of Penn students have ever been there, and only about 2% on purpose) Rotunda in the running to be named Philadelphia’s best Indie Music Venue this year.
Second, the Morris Arboretum’s “Out on a Limb” exhibit is up for the most Fun Place to Take the Kids. But you’ll be the judge of that, won’t you?
Cast your votes for these and/or other Philly hotspots right here. And then wait 24 hours to do it again!
You wanna know what’s hapPENNing? Spring Fling is happening. That’s it. Boom.
(Just kidding. The world doesn’t stop entirely for Fling! Read on for other cool events this week.)
Red Giants and Fat Panther at Smoke’s Who: Red Giants and Fat Panther When and where: Tonight, 10:30; Smoke’s Why: Well, it certainly is an excuse to start Fling on a Monday. Not that you need one.
We’ll admit it: we have a crush on SPEC Jazz and Grooves. For their first show of the new year, they’re bringing in electronic artist Tycho and Brooklyn-based duo Beacon to perform at the Rotunda on Friday, February 3 at 8:30 p.m. Student tickets can be purchased online now or on Locust Walk beginning Thursday for just $5! Snatch one up before they’re gone.
How was your Thanksgiving? That’s good. Ours was fine. How was your Black Friday? That’s good. Our was fine. How was your weekend? That’s good. Ours was HORRIBLE because we procrastinated and now we have 20 papers to write. Tell us it’s going to be okay? Smiley face?
SPEC Presents: Baths Who: SPEC Jazz and Grooves

Some Penn kids are planning a spooky event at the Rotunda for February’s upcoming Friday the 13th. Think The Craft…goes to college! According to the craigslist ad, they’re looking “for paranormal specialists (i.e. psychics, fortune-tellers, tarot card readers, ghost hunters, voodoo experts, spectral enthusiasts…) and people who have been contacted by the spirit realm.” Psychic mediums, that’s your cue!
