In this age of text messages and Twitter, there’s no shortage of ways to contact that special someone this Valentine’s Day. But doesn’t a singing telegram say much more than a less-than sign and the number three (read: <3) ever could? Thank goodness the old-timey crooners of Penn’s Glee Club are offering Singing Valentines, deliverable both over the phone and during class. Yes, for $5, you can have a bunch of kids in blazers interrupt your lecture and sing to that girl or guy you’ve been crushing on. And proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity. Seriously, this is awesome. Check out the Facebook event here and place your orders here. Below, a preview.
By day, Lauren Lipsay is a Street editor. But by night, she’s Penn’s best (and only) female DJ. In her new feature, Pissed Jockey, DJLips will let us in on secrets and stories from the world behind the turntables.
Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? Okay, rhetorical question; everyone has. But here’s a good one: have you ever had a song stuck in your head whose name you could not, for the life of you, remember? While normal people might be able to brush it off and chalk it up to that bong hit from last weekend, I can’t.
In the past, when songs’ melodies tormented me, I was forced to sing them to friends, family members, other DJs–pretty much anyone with a shot at naming the song. A notable example: I could not recall the name of this song for two years.
