STREET Presents: Your Thursday, Occupied

So who is that mysterious silhouetted figure on the cover? We’ll never tell, but we will present you with a thoughtfully-researched piece of long-form journalism that asks some serious questions about last semester’s Occupy rager. Check it out.

In other news, Highbrow lets you in on a few pledging secrets this week. A concise preview: chain-smoking, Jewish junk and a sorority’s new style that’s reminiscent of Mugatu’sDerelicte collection.

For those of you who are looking to get into Center City, Arts has a delightful afternoon in store for you, and Music gently guides you into the world of Philly record stores (and even gives you a primer on vinyl). For those of you who tend to stay inside and watch movies, check out Film’s debate over the future of 3D movies.

And don’t forget Lowbrow’s exposé on the scandalous pasts of Penn’s most well-known faces. We now understand why Eric Furda can get so catty sometimes.

Playlist Of The Week– It's Monday and you're like, "Ugh thx 2 g-d this is the last monday of classes i'm so done with thiz semester yall." Well, we've got some St. Vincent, Clams Casino (channeling Imogen Heap), Radiohead and other greats to help you celebrate!

Street Presents: Shoutouts Among Other Things

This week marks the end of an era. The birth of a butterfly. The death of a caterpillar. Or something like that. Whatever.

It’s time for SHOUTOUTS. So eat ‘em up. Yeah.

While you’re at it, check out Ego of the Week Zack Rosen and his shadow Shaam. Food & Drink gets you through those stress eating days ahead with some healthy options. Film breaks our movie habits down by the numbers.

Music chats up student bands about SPEC’s Penn Collective show tonight. Hint: there’s one cool chick among these hot d00dz. Arts brings you the best of First Friday.

Don’t miss out on our feature: an in-depth look at Penn’s very own 2003 sex scandal. Sound familiar?

We Have a Thing For Muppets and Music: While you were out eating turkey and bragging to your high school friends, Street got down and dirty with the Muppets. Here's some RESPEK for the men and women behind the mupps, and some adorable facts about them mupps themselves. Bored while reading this ish? Get your good taste on with our Playlist of the Week.

Street Presents: Miss Lisa Lisa at Bob and Barbara’s

It’s a wonderful time during the year. Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Shoutouts just around that other corner. But before we cut both of those corners, we have another Street tradition for you: Cultural Elite.

Aside from bashing and thrashing at our beloved seniors, Street also had time to check in with the boys of BMOC. Food & Drink stumbled across Market Street. to the food trucks dotting Drexel’s campus.

Film hung out with some Penn celebs to find out their secret celebrity crushes. Music drowned their sorrows in a nice cup of Drake. Arts named a Cribz winner! He’s in Theos. Shocker.

This week’s feature is about Lisa Lisa (the girl so nice they named her twice!) and her weekly drag show at South Street bar, Bob and Barbara’s.

And Lowbrow readies you for Thanksgiving with some timely pick up lines.

Don’t forget to submit your Shoutouts in the nifty tip box at the top of this page. Or to shoutouts@34st.com. Get at us. We love it.

Street Presents: A Home for the Homeless

Street‘s back this week to dazzle and amaze you. (A girl can try, can’t she?) Well, here we go.

Our Ego of the Week, Rosie Brown, is seriously adorkable. Food & Drink brings you some intense donut making skills and a review of Federal Donuts. Can you say ‘doh?

This week’s feature centers on Student Run Emergency Housing Unit of Philadelphia (a homeless shelter run by Philadelphia college students). Kids can change the world, dontcha know?

Film brings you a review of J. Edgar. Spoiler: Leo is better in every other movie he’s in. Oops.

Arts kicks it with a Zine convention at the Rotunda and Lowbrow has some serious Mo-vember trends going on. Mo your brains out.

P.S.: GOSSIP GOES HERE.

STREET Presents: Penn Grads in Inner City Schools

Street’s back this week with a boatload of gossip and goods. There was too much Halloween naughty going on for a normal toast ‘n roast, so Highbrow‘s got a Halloween round up to brighten your mood.

Ever catch yourself looking at your good-looking self in the reflective surfaces on Walnut? Us too. Check out Ego‘s recommendations of where to check yourself out here.

Food & Drink took some time to chat with Chef Nikki Hill. She gave us the lowdown on how to cook some lip-smacking goodness in small spaces.

Don’t miss our feature on Penn grads who work as urban educators. There’s more to it than meets the eye. While you’re at it, see our six degrees of Thom Yorke. He’s radiosexy.

Film caught Like Crazy and is here to dish the dirt on across-the-pond romance. Arts didn’t want you to miss all the boozy fun of the play, Bye Bye Liver.

One mystery we couldn’t solve this week: Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

Street Presents: Penn Gamers

Streetophiles, it’s Thursday, which means we’ve got something good brewing up in here.

Our feature focuses on Penn students who keep their eyes on their screen and their hand on the joysticks: gamers. Check yo’self before you spend 18 hours a day at a video game.

Food & Drink was on overtime this week. Besides putting out the Fall 2011 Dining Guide, they took the time to talk coffee. Music gets all hot (and cold) and bothered about Coldplay, and Film checks in with the best Olsen sister— Elizabeth.

Arts teaches you how to DIY with a Halloween wreath. Worried about splitting time between your Halloweekend and your Parents’ arrival? Ego shows you how to balance the two (hint: get your parents drunk).

Highbrow‘s got your gossip and Lowbrow‘s got your… err… gossip? See for yourself here.

Street Presents: Fall 2011 Dining Guide

So many restaurants on campus make us sick. The bad kind of stomach sick you only want to get after a long night of boozin’.

But fear not dear foodies, Street‘s here to cleanse your bowels… and brighten your appetite with the Dining Guide.

We’ve got reviews, listings and some definite food porn.

Pick it up on stands inside the DP today.

Local ReTREEt—Get your PennCards out and head over to the Morris Arboretum, Penn's very own tree haven just a short drive from campus. This really nice, upgraded version of the Bio Pond is open late on Thursday nights all summer long (that’s tomorrow!) and even made last year’s Best of Philly list. Check out Street's article here.
