Is The Bridge Being Replaced With A Pimp-o-Plex?

Bemoaning The Bridge is a part of Penn culture. The assigned seating, the crappy show times, the general pseudo-movie theater vibe. Well, Penn moviegoers, we have some news for you.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the movie theater may be getting a fly new owner. National Amusements, the company that has operated The Bridge since 2003, is giving up its lease. The group apparently interested in taking over the property is called Rave Entertainment, and let us tell you, they sound rad. According to the Inky, Rave "is known for its state-of-the-art digital projection and seating amenities, including chairs that rock and feature retractable armrests for cuddling."
Wondering if the new digs will still have that annoying assigned seating system? We did some snooping around the ticketing section of Rave's website, and it appears that at its other theaters, seating is open. Let's hope for the same on 40th and Walnut.
We do have one last thing to admit: we are not-so-secretly fond patrons of 12 Lounge, the shady bar/lounge attached to The Bridge (it's right across the street from our office!). We look forward to "cuddling" at the new theater, but we'll be looking for a new spot to fuel our afternoon thirst.
