Palmer Social Slammed With Tax Fraud

But where will they gyrate against fuzzy tiger print walls on Halloween?

What is it about sweaty hip-hop spots and their inability to stay open?! First, we mourned the death of Transit, and now things aren't looking so hot for Palmer Social Club, another popular Thursday night venue for Penn kiddos.

The Daily News reports that Palmer has been charged by a federal grand jury for filing false tax returns. The 6th and Spring Garden spot allegedly underreported tax receipts for 2004 and 2005 by more than $1.6 million. Ouch.

According to Philebrity, Palmer benefits from officially being a non-profit organization (For what, drunken youth? We kid. But really? For what?), which allows it to stay open later than other venues. While clubs and bars generally must close by 2 a.m. in Philadelphia, non-profits can potentially keep their doors open later into the wee hours.

From the looks of it, it seems like the club will remain open for the time being, despite the legal issues. In that case, we'll be back.
