It's Getting Hot In Hurr

...but apparently not hot enough, according to Penn Housing Services. It seems like only days ago we transitioned to fire hazards heating, but now we're back to craving the A/C.

However, the College Houses won't just let any old weather inspire central cooling; they have some complex formula that must be adhered to in order to give us relief.

Dear Residents of College Houses and Sansom Place,

Our seasonal temperatures continue to fluctuate. Last week we shared information with you regarding the transition from heat to air conditioning. One of the key factors in making a decision to begin a system changeover is the long range forecast.

Currently, local weather experts are predicting warm weather over the next 3 days, with temperatures getting up into the 80's during the day. For the end of this week and through next weekend, however, they are predicting a cooling trend with rain,and daytime temperatures hovering in the 60's with evening temps going down into the 40's.

As we described in a prior email, the transition from heat to air conditioning begins when EACH of the following  occur: 1. Outside temperatures level off at 75 or above for three consecutive days. 2. The nighttime temperature remains moderate.

3. The long-term forecast predicts moderate temperatures.

At this point, we will maintain the systems in their current state. We are, however, watching the weather closely in order to begin a changeover when appropriate.
