The Gang Makes The Bar A Reality

Plenty of television shows try to imitate reality, but wouldn't it be way neater if the shows we really love could come to life instead? And furthermore, what better qualifications do you need for a job than having played the part on TV? The Gang from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is totally picking up what we're putting down with this idea, as Mac and Sweet Dee (or, in an alternate universe, husband and wife duo Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson) have decided to go ahead and open up a real live Philly bar.
OK, so it won't technically be Paddy's Pub come to life, seeing as they're calling it Mac's Tavern, and the more we think about it, it seems unlikely that many shenanigans from the show will play out without the majority of the bar getting arrested. But still! Rob/Mac is a Philly native himself, and according to philly.com, he's joined forces with some of his St. Joe's Prep buddies to revamp the artist formerly known as Skinner's Dry Goods at 226 Market Street. It seems like the makeover and name change are just what the made-for-TV doctor ordered. Not only will the menu include more high-end pub food, but for extra kicks you can pay to get your name up on a plaque on the wall, with the proceeds going to various local charities.
The pub is scheduled to open under its new moniker in about a week, but in our opinion, the time to make an appearance is for the June 22nd red carpet grand opening, where the Always Sunny gang will be popping by during the filming of the upcoming season. Try not to get overly excited now – just take a few deep breaths as you register this news, and think, "What would Charlie do"
