Edible Updates: Local Restaurants Embrace The All-You-Can-Eat Mentality

Campus area restaurants would really like to give you every excuse to eat out. 34th Street Food & Drink editors Jess Goodman and Josh Goldman bring you the low down on this fall's savory specials.
- Every Monday night, 8 to 10 p.m., during Football Season, Distrito is offering endless tacos and enchiladas at $25 per person, as well as $2 Don Equis on tap. Along with the Chilango chopped salad and a side of rice and beans, which automatically accompany every 'endless menu,' you'll choose from an array smaller, tapas-style versions of their most popular Cantina tacos and enchiladas (and some new additions) -- our favorites are the chicken and yellowfish tacos. In all, this Monday Night Football special is well worth the money; come hungry! Try to be seated in the second floor lounge, though, where they project the game on a big screen -- the awkwardly placed TVs in the cantina make it hard to focus on the football.
- Penn student (SDT) fave Pod has made some pretty serious changes to its menu this year. The Pod Caesar salad is gone! Hold up... why??? Anyone try'na revolt? They also added entire new menu sections of tempura and hibachi, and a couple of new sushi rolls—one is called the TNT roll. We're intrigued, though still mourning the loss of the salad. Thankfully, they're holding on to the all you can eat sushi deal for $25 a person from 9-11 on Tuesday nights. The restaurant tells us it's going to last for at least the rest of this month. Suck on that, Ajia.
- Marathon Grill, the restaurant Penn loves to hate, just announced a new 20/20 Menu. The menu offers three courses for $20 and a $20 bottle of wine chosen for you to complement the meal (not sure why they’re so controlling without their deceased Control Freak Salad). The menu offerings change weekly and this special will last year round. This week's inaugural menu features Mushroom Risotto, Spinach Salad, Pan-Seared Flank Steak, Grilled Striped Bass and Apple Crumble (insert drool) with wine pairings of either Martin Codax albarino or Yard Dog cabernet sauvignon. Let’s hope this new addition makes up for their “recession menu” (avocado, we miss you!)
- Copabanana -- home to half-price burger Wednesdays -- is offering a three-day special through Campus Food: buy a $10 gift certificate, for use online or in person, for $5.
