UTBxTED

Folks, today is the first ever TEDxPenn conference. If you've never heard of TED.com (you mean your high school econ teacher didn't put it on instead of teaching 3 days a week? weird), it's a place where today's thinkers, dreamers, and occasional crazy people come to talk about, well, whatever they feel like. And then everyone is like, "wow that guy's so smart and deep" and Malcolm Gladwell jumps out of nowhere and blows your mind. It's great stuff.
While the real TED has featured people like Bono and astronauts, the Penn version has some delightful people too. Primarily alums and staff, we've got such names as:
- Vish Arya, who, according to the Facebook event, runs places without shoes on
- Michael Highland, who made-- wait, WHAT? This is awesome: Hipster City Cycle, the video game. And he's a yogi.
- Thor Halvorssen. His name is Thor.
PS: in case you're not one of the 100 lucky souls to attend, they're streaming it live in glamorous Steiny-D 351 from 12 to 5 p.m.
