People Who Went to Penn: Josh Kopelman
November 15, 2010 at 10:00 am
Ever buy a discount textbook on Half.com? If so, you can thank this guy: Josh Kopelman.
Josh was a student at Penn just like you. Not only did he have a generic first name which he shared with 15% of the student body, but just like you, he was from the Long Island region of NY, participated in Greek Life, and started his first business during his sophomore year. Did we lose you at that last part?
Kopelman graduated from Wharton in 1993 with a degree in Entrepreneurial Management and Marketing and an internet company under his belt. Not 10 years later, Kopelman was renaming towns in Oregon as a means of literally getting himself "on the map," and in January 2000, he was selling Half.com to eBay for $350 million, just 6 months after the website's launch.
Penn Book Bazaar, no pressure.
