In Memoriam: Remembering Those We Lost In 2010

While the New Year brings good cheer, it is once again time to take a moment to remember what we've lost this year; an ode to things at Penn that have run their course.

Strikes Deceased: June 2010 Cause of Death: Rowdy kids and being sketchy Survived By: Quieter Locust housing, flash mobs, people trying to come up with better things to do for birthday parties In Memoriam: We're still not sure we ever had fun here, but it made for great people watching.

Bubble House Deceased: June 2010 Cause of Death: Bigger and better barbecue Survived By: Asian-culture groups that sell bubble tea for like $2, Koreana (they have bubble tea punch cards!), any of the Thai restaurants around In Memoriam: We guess a restaurant always out of everything probably wasn't going to stay open that long. Also, their website was "HaCkEd By IslamiC GhOsTs TeaM." Oops.

Douglas Deceased: October-ish 2010 Cause of Death: Its evil identical twin, Blue Mercury Survived By: The crazy promoter guy, the mayor of Douglas In Memoriam: It was sort of sad that Douglas closed because like, we needed sparkly nail polish, but then we realized absolutely nothing changed so we were okay. As long as they keep the publicity stunts and free champagne, we're cool with THEOD.

Refreshing PennInTouch for Grades Deceased: Fall 2010 Cause of Death: The UA Survived By: Your email, professors who aren't gonna turn in grades any faster In Memoriam: Why this didn't happen sooner is beyond us. Amid PennInTouch's many faults comes a shining ray of hope-- we now get emails when final grades are available.

HubBub and La Vie Deceased: Summer 2010 Cause of Death: The HubBub guy went to get an MBA, but what gives, smoothie truck?! Survived By: Wawa coffee, awkwardly going to Pottruck solely to get a smoothie and feeling bad about yourself In Memoriam: The HubBub guy was hot, everyone loves smoothies, and overall 38th and Spruce seemed to be getting more exciting. We had such high hopes for these two.

Pennetration Deceased: March 2010 Cause of Death: Not enough sex Survived By: Sex In Memoriam: Well, that was fun.
