People Who Went To Penn: Martin Luther King, Jr.
February 1, 2011 at 9:57 am
In honor of Black History Month, we wanted to shine a spotlight on one of the most influential players in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. You might have heard of him—he's kind of a big deal—Martin Luther King, Jr.
Little known fact: MLK kinda sorta technically went to Penn! While earning his Bachelor of Divinity degree and serving as class president at the Crozer Theological Seminary just 30 minutes away in Chester, King also made his way into Philly and dabbled in some classes at Penn. (Makes you feel pretty stupid for complaining about that trek to DRL, huh?)
Was this alumnus connection a bit of a stretch? Maybe. But much like the ZTAs colonizing this week, we'll take what we can get.
