With a drumroll, we're pleased to announce the Spring Fling 2011 theme, Viva La Fliñg! Sorry, it's not time for the artists yet but there's nothing like a good Fling (with a tilde!) leak to get your blood pumping.

In case you haven't marked your calendars, Fling goes from April 15–16 this year and now that we can bring pinatas, things have the potential to get, well, interesting.

For those interested in designing images for the annual Fling t-shirt design contest, SPEC is now accepting designs until February 25. You can also win $100, so that's kind of cool. See the entire press release after the jump.

SPEC Spring Fling Announces 2011 Theme and T-Shirt Design Contest

PHILADELPHIA, PA - SPEC Spring Fling is proud to announce Viva La Fliñg as the theme for

Spring Fling 2011, which will be held from Friday, April 15 to Saturday, April 16, 2011. Past themes have included “Some Flings Do Come True” and “Some Flings Never Get Old.” Voted on by the Fling committee and SPEC directors, this year’s theme seeks to celebrate Penn’s diverse cultural atmosphere, while providing students a safe and enjoyable outlet to release their stress before finals commence. “For the past 36 years, Spring Fling has been the largest student-run event on campus, drawing over 10,000 undergrads and their friends,” said SPEC President and Wharton Senior Adam Thompson. “This year’s fling directors are working aggressively to implement the theme into all aspects of the weekend in order to make the weekend much more memorable and unique.” “This is going to be the biggest fiesta of the millennia,” said Fling Daytime Entertainment Director and College Junior Eileen Feng. “We are counting down the days until sunshine, music in the Quad, and, of course, fried Oreos.”

The Spring Fling committee is now taking submissionsfor the annual T-Shirt design contest, designed to highlight the Viva la Fliñg theme. The winning design will be featured on all official Spring Fling T-Shirts and guest passes. Drawings may either be hand drawn or computer generated, but must be of original work. Designs must be able to fit on the front side of a T-Shirt, and must be related to this year’s theme. Winner will receive $100, a free T-Shirt, and two (2) free floor passes to the Spring Fling concert.
