March 30, 2011 at 1:34 pm
Did y'all see that email President Gutmann just sent to all undergrads? Graduation gets Denzel Washington, but the UN Secretary-General is just gonna stroll in and give a talk in Irvine.
Granted, it's for the Global Colloquium of University Presidents, which is 50 presidents of the most powerful universities in the world, but still. Ensure that you'll see Model UN kids pee their pants in excitement by checking the details after the jump.
Dear Colleagues and Friends:
Please join me for a public address by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on “Empowering Women to Change the World: What Universities and the UN Can Do,” at Irvine Auditorium on Monday, April 4th, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.
The Secretary-General is a passionate advocate for the human rights and welfare of women and girls globally. He will be keynoting the fifth Global Colloquium of University Presidents, a meeting of 50 university presidents and faculty from major universities in every part of the world, which will convene at Penn on April 4-5th to discuss what we can do to empower women for full participation and leadership in their societies.
The Secretary-General’s keynote address is open to the public, and no tickets are required – but we would appreciate it if you would please RSVP to opevents@pobox.upenn.edu if you are planning to attend.

I very much hope you are able to join me for this important event.
Sincerely,
Amy Gutmann
