Another week goes by at Penn as spring begins to emerge. Flowers are blooming! Trees are coming back to life! Locust Walk smells like a barn! As Penn Madness continues to rage around us, we take a look at other events popping up all over campus. So, what is happening these next few days?
Just Vision film screening: "Budrus" Who: Middle East Center When and where: Monday, 7:30-9:30 p.m.; Ibrahim Theater (International House) Why: It's a documentary about a community organizer who works with different groups to save his village, Budrus. After, you can talk with one of the presenters! Watch the trailer and GET PUMPED.
Moral Voices presents: Mia Farrow Who: Moral Voices When and where: Tuesday, 8-9:30 p.m.; Irvine Auditorium Why: Going along with Moral Voices' yearlong theme of food injustice, Mia Farrow will give a talk concerning global hunger. Do: Go and learn about the problem of food insecurity around the world. Don't: Ask about Rosemary's Baby.
Flesh, Fantasy, and Bandwith Who: Penn Humanities Forum When and where: Wednesday, 5-6:30 p.m.; Rainey Auditorium (Penn Museum) WTF: Richard Summers, a psychotherapist at Penn, will give a talk detailing human interaction in a computer-obsessed world. This sounds really interesting, but we can't get over the fact that the title makes this event sound like a porn discussion group.
Japan Relief Charity Benefit Who: Japan Student Association When and where: Thursday, 8-10 p.m.; Hall of Flags (Houston Hall) Why: This "banquet-style fundraiser" will feature speakers, tons of food and performances by Exelano Project, KBeats and the Pan-Asian Dance Troupe. If you can't attend but would still like to donate to help Japan, check out this site.
Annual Art Club Student Art Show Submissions Who: Penn Art Club When and where: Submissions accepted until Friday at midnight Why: Are you artistically-inclined? We're not. But if you think you are, send a short bio and pic of your work to pennartclub@gmail.com for the chance to have your work featured at the Fox Art Gallery in Claudia Cohen Hall later this year! Sweetness.
