Welcome back to reality! Since spring has sprung and Fling has... No, we refuse to say "flung." In any case, the 2010-2011 school year has officially begun to wind down, but there are some great events to celebrate the nice weather and surviving the wonderful mess that was Fling. Get outside and start LIVING!

 

From Tupac to Gangster Arabi: Hip-Hop in the Middle East Who: Communication Within the Curriculum When and where: Wednesday, 7-8:15 p.m.; Stiteler B21 Why: Arabian hip-hop? Gangster Arabi? What?! Seems like this art form has really taken root in the Middle East. We're intrigued!

Nastia Liukin comes to Penn Who: SPEC Connaissance When and where: Wednesday, 8-9:30; Bodek Lounge (Houston) Why: Walk, run or roundoff double back handspring to Bodek to see this Olympic celebrity! She has her own Wikipedia page, so she's kind of a big deal.

That's How We Escaped: Reflections on Warhol Who: ICA When and where: Opens Thursday, various times; ICA Why: Wa-wa-wee-wa! Did you know Warhol held his first US exhibition at the ICA in 1965? Pretty neat, right? Come see an awesome show inspired by him. Thursday is the opening day and it runs until August, but don't you want to catch all the excitement of the new exhibition? You do!

Penn Student Radio Presents: WQHS on the Green Who: WQHS When and where: Friday, 10-4 p.m.; College Green (near the Button) Why: Friday afternoon, Penn's best student DJs will be bringing the scene to College Green rather than hiding away in the Hollenback Center. You can meet the celebrities themselves, get some cookies and win free stuff!

ICA Presents: Laundry Boat Who: ICA When and where: Saturday, 12-8 p.m.; ICA Why: The ICA is blowin' up with events this week! In addition to the Warhol exhibition, Laundry Boat will be taking place Saturday afternoon. Inspired by the 1911 bohemian "Bateau Lavoir" area of Paris, the event will feature activities all day long, including interesting galleries, monoprinting (Fancy!) and a film screening.
