So you're in the birthplace of this great nation for its Super Sweet 235, but how do you celebrate? With a weekend so chock full activity, it can be hard to figure out events which to hit and which to quit. That's why we put together an easy guide to help you get the most out of America's birthday party -- just pick the category that describes you best and we guarantee the weekend of a lifetime!

7-Year Old Child / Anyone With Tastebuds: Run, don't walk, to the Super Scooper All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival, where for $7 you can consume your weight in sugar for three successive days. Runs noon - 5pm on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, as well as 6 - 9pm on Saturday.

Amurrrcan: Check out the Independence Day Parade on the 4th, beginning at 5th and Chestnut at 11am. Rumor has it this year it's bigger and better than ever.

Ancient Fire-Breathing Dragon: Head to the Chinatown Block Party at 10th and Arch on Saturday from noon - 4pm. Get a taste of Philly's Asian culture and demonstrate your own knowledge of Chinese traditions!

Professional Civil War Reenactor: Get thee to Franklin Square to visit the traveling Civil War Road Show that's stopping in Philly from July 1-4. Prove that you, in fact, have the most authentic Abe Lincoln beard this side of the Mississippi.

Everyone: What's the 4th without fireworks? Make sure to hit up at least one of the following:

  • Saturday night fireworks at Penn's Landing with a performance by "Pershing's Own" U.S. Army Band (8pm)
  • Sunday night fireworks at Independence Hall accompanied by a performance by the Philly Pops orchestra (8pm)
  • Monday's Grand Finale along Ben Franklin Parkway, with a fireworks eXtRaVaGaNzA and concert featuring The Roots, Estelle, Earth Wind & Fire, Sara Bareilles, and DJ Jazzy Jeff (8:30pm)
