We Askin' About Aksum

West Philadelphia is waiting with bated breath for the opening of Aksum, a "new café/hookah lounge" at 46th and Baltimore, expected to be opening in a few days. Owner Saba Tedla claims she wanted to add something with a "chic vibe" to the neighborhood, and it looks like she's doing just that.
Tedla's inspiration for the restaurant's unique menu came from the ancient Aksumite Empire and the nation of Eritrea. (Hopefully Ethiopian-inspired Queen of Sheba's location across-the-street doesn't evoke any hard feelings). However, the new eatery is certain to meet Penn students' standards, for it has nailed the trifecta of quintessential mealtime pleasers: Brunch, outdoor seating and BYO.
