Networking: Not Just For Wharton Anymore

Sick of going to all those career fairs that Helen and the rest of the gang insist are open to all majors only to realize that you don't know what "marketing" or "finance" really mean? In other words, are you an aspiring starving artist?
Fear not. The Philadelphia Liar's Club has planned a benefit party for Leslie Esdaile Banks, a Penn alum and NYT bestselling author who writes under the name L. A. Banks and who is currently battling adrenal cancer.
The "Writer's Bash" will take place at Smoke's this Saturday night from 7PM until closing and will host numerous bestselling authors, agents, editors and marketing gurus (so you can finally ask them what it is they really do), and it'll be the perfect opportunity to "rub elbows."
A $10 admission fee will get college students with ID right through the doors and straights to the free snacks. There will be raffles and a silent auction going on throughout the night, with items like manuscript critiques by editors and agents, as well as tickets and a backstage tour for Jersey Boys on Broadway. Most importantly, the event will also include drink specials all night, with $2 beers, $3 wines and something called "The Vamp," dedicated to Banks' popular Vampire Huntress novels.
Go to support a good cause, go to support yourself, or go so you can finally whip out all those cocktail party zingers you've been accumulating for years. Just go.
