Adorable Freshman Plays Nintendo Tunes, Will Make It Big Someday

Look what we found on Locust Walk! This is Mike Choi, Engineering freshman and self-taught “video game musicist.” He honed his blowing-into-a-piano skills on the mean streets of LA, specifically Little Tokyo, where he performs outside to raise money for his family’s contribution to his Penn tuition.
Mike was ‘discovered’ at last month’s Up On Stage, a free monthly open mic event, when he jumped on stage to play. Now he’s filling College Green with the sweet, sweet sounds of the Nintendo musical masterpiece. See him (and other student performers) at this month’s Up On Stage tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the Platt Performing Arts House. Oh, and stalk him online here, here and here.
