Now, we know that you're all very smart, so you should plan each day from its start. You ask, "What events are there this week?" And we respond, "Oh-so-many, eek!" And– Oh, goodness!– this limerick's a fart.
The Bachelorette's Ashley Hebert Who: Delta Delta Delta When and where: Tuesday, 5:30-7 p.m.; Hall of Flags Why: Perennial UTB favorite Ashley Hebert will be coming to Houston Hall on Tuesday to share her insights with the Penn community. For any aspiring dental student-cum-public figure-ish (?), this is an event that you simply cannot miss! Also: free Chili's appetizers. Blooming onions, people. Blooming. Onions. Tickets are $5 and will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is awesome.
The Morton Collection at the Penn Museum Who: Penn Museum When and where: Wednesday, 6-7 p.m.; Penn Museum Why: The Morton Collection, The Penn Museum's famous series of skulls that form the center of a heated controversy about race and human diversity, will be discussed by curator Dr. Janet Monge this Wednesday. Can we give a collective round of applause for the Penn Museum? Really, they put on amazing events all the time and they're free for Penn students!
Poet-tree en Motion Who: The Rotunda When and where: Wednesday, 7 p.m.; The Rotunda (4014 Walnut) Why: Poetry! Dance! Electronic music! Yoga! Local art projects! Yes, you can have it all, at the Rotunda's Poet-tree en Motion series. The theme of the November 9th event is "Giving THANX," which, you know, is a good thing to do. The event is free, but there is a suggested donation.
Think About It: Urban Poverty Who: Civic House and LIFT Philadelphia When and where: Thursday, 7-8 p.m.; Civic House Why: Poverty is a very present force in West Philadelphia, and as scholars living in this community, we have an obligation to do something about it. This event will bring together professors, students, West Philadelphia residents and voluteers from Americorps to discuss steps that we can take to ease urban poverty.
D2S Presents: Nuit Blanche Who: Dzine2Show When and where: Saturday, 8-10:30; Terrace Room (Claudia Cohen Hall) Why: "Nuit Blanche"? So you're going for the French angle to boost your fashion credibility, eh? Ah, ouais! Nous vous tirons nos chapeaux– cette spectacle va faire un tabac! Bof, nous blaguons. Mais cette «Nuit Blanche» sera absolument amusant! Alors nous y assisterons à condition que nous soyons ronds comme une queue de pelle. Tickets are $10 for regular admission and $15 for VIP seating.
