What's HapPENNing?

Well, another week has passed us by here at Dear Old Penn! Seems like yesterday that we were blah blah blah and so then it was screech screech screech. (Are you still reading this? Cool. We always wonder whether people actually read these little blurbs or just skip down to see the events. Or even read What's HapPENNing at all? We hope you do! These take forever to write.) To the events!
Center City Restaurant Week Who: Center City District When and where: Today until October 5, and October 7-12; varies, check link Why: On paper, getting a $20 lunch or a $35 dinner does not sound like a good deal for a college student. But did we mention that these meals are each THREE COURSES at FANCY RESTAURANTS? Think about that.
Exploring Queer Shame Who: Kelly Writers House When and where: Tuesday, 7-8:30 p.m.; Kelly Writers House (38th and Locust Walk) Why: The Kelly Writers House is cool and awesome and etc. etc. etc.– you already knew this, though. But here's just another reason to love it: this Tuesday, KWH will be bringing in noted speakers Heather Love, Darnell Moore, Rafe Posey and Genne Murphy to discuss queer shame and its place both inside and outside the queer community. Very interesting. Definitely worth checking out!
Animal Collective Who: Animal Collective and Micachu & the Shapes When and where: The Mann Center (52nd and Parkside) Why: Whether you're a longtime Animal Collective fan or one of those hip kids who slings around the term "AnCo," this band needs no introduction. There's simply nothing like Animal Collective, trust. We'll see you there.
PennCycle Fall Kick-Off Event Who: PennCycle When and where: Friday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; College Green Why: PennCycle is one of Penn's hidden gems- did you know you could rent a bike for the entire school year for only $40!? Crazy talk! At the kick-off even this Friday, you can enjoy some free grub and drinks and free bike rides and then get your own bike. Pretty sweet.
Nutella Breakfast Tour Who: Nutella When and where: Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; Franklin Field Why: Get free Nutella on your way to the Penn-Columbia game, because– hello? Free Nutella.
The Rumble: Jon Stewart & Bill O'Reilly Who: Penn Leads the Vote and Penn Political Coalition When and where: Saturday, 8 p.m.; Harisson Rooftop Lounge Why: This, but with pundits instead. Free food!
Sean Paul Who: Sean Paul When and where: Saturday, 9 p.m.; the Trocadero (10th and Arch) Why: I mean, why not?
