GOOD MORNING, UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA! You look wonderful today, did you know that? Whatever you're doing, it's working.
Friarside Coffeehouse Who: Friars Senior Society and Penn Habitat for Humanity When and where: Wednesday, 8 p.m.; The Castle (36th and Locust) Why: It's a tasting menu of all the wonderful performing arts groups on campus with coffee and other yums. For $6! Getcha tix on the Walk.
Death Grips and Mykki Blanco Who: R5 Production When and where: Wednesday, 8:30 p.m. Why: Death Grips is great. Mykki Blanco is SUPER great. Need proof? BAM. Tickets are $15.
Under the BMOC (Big Man on Campus) Who: Alpha Chi Omega Sorority When and where: Wednesday, 8-11:45 p.m.; The Roxxy (9th and Delaware) Why: Scantily-clad junior and senior men shakin' their thangs, just because. Ticket sales go towards Women Against Abuse, which is awesome. Not so awesome? The event title. Under the BMOC? Really? Tickets are $10.
Penn Music Collective Who: SPEC Concerts and Wharton UME When and where: Thursday, 7 p.m.; The Rotunda (4oth and Walnut) Why: SPEC Concerts and Wharton Undergraduate Media and Entertainment Club, which, yes, of course that is a group, are ~joining forces~ to bring together some of Penn's best musical talent to benefit Vagina Monologues. While the event is free, donations (non-bursar-able) are encouraged, so don't be "that person" who wanders in for free.
Chisino Who: Chi Omega sorority When and where: Friday, 7 p.m.; MBA Pub (Vance Hall) Why: Gambling is nothing to joke about, except for when it TOTALLY IS! Risk your dollar bills to support Make A Wish Foundation and win cool-cat prizes. Tickets are $10 on the Walk and $12 at the door.
Aeroplane Party Who: SPEC Jazz and Grooves When and where: Friday, 11 p.m.; The Castle Why: The event description makes absolutely no sense, but we think we've gleaned that Aeroplane and DJ Yung Skeeter will be showing up at the Castle on Friday for a gentle evening of funky tunes and booty-droppin'...for FREE.
Counterparts Presents: Awkappella Who: Counterparts When and where: Friday and Saturday, 6 and 8:30 p.m., respectively; Iron Gate Theater (37th and Chestnut) Why: We can't think of a better description of this show than what Counterparts has already written about it: "Step 1: Try to sound like instruments. Step 2: Bop. Step 3: Move your hands around like you're swatting flies in rhythm."
Conor Oberst Who: Kimmel Center When and where: Sunday, 8 p.m.; Verizon Hall, Kimmel Center (15th and Walnut) Why: Because you need more material for your stupid Facebook statuses of Bright Eyes lyrics.
