A Construction Treat for 30th Street
October 8, 2013 at 5:15 pm
For those of you who generally consider 30th Street Station an eyesore(?), here's some news to appease your senses: Amtrak is planning to not only upgrade the station itself, but also make the surrounding University City neighborhood more accessible.
Those behind the renovation, which include our school, hope for 30th Street to become "a more welcoming gateway to West Philadelphia and Center City." Fair enough, since we know that Penn students are a bit fuzzy on the geography east of 34th street (Dr3xel).
Construction plans are being accepted through November 18th, but they can't be put into effect until Amtrak is granted the funds from Congress--which may pose a bit of a problem at the moment.
