Philly Students Fail On Holocaust Education

If you ever need another reason to avoid the press, our friends at The Blaze have you covered. In an effort to expose a lack of historical Holocaust knowledge, author Rhonda Fink-Whitman interviewed students at several area college campuses, including our venerated Ivy League institution, asking some rather basic questions. The responses might be enough to make your matzah rise.

  • A guy didn't know who Anne Frank was because he "never read the book."
  • African Americans "may have been the target."
  • Who were the allies? "Of Hitler?"
  • “It was a, uh, I don’t know how to say it like. It was something that happened in. Oh my God, I know the answer but I don’t know how to explain it.”
  • It happened in "uhm 1800, maybe 300 years ago."
  • Adolf Hitler was the leader of "Amsterdam?"
  • The Final Solution was "...the Nuremberg Trials."
While the author didn't intend to "embarrass, shame or humiliate" anyone, she certainly illuminated the surprisingly large number of students who enter local colleges without ever learning the answer to "What is the Holocaust"
