What's HapPENNing?

Oh snap, it's the first full week of October! Midterm season is winding down (or just revving up, for those of you tortured souls who have exams after Fall Break), and our calendars are seeking to avenge those date nights spent in Huntsman. So, grab your PSL and get ready to Insta the shit out of all the autumnal activities going down this week.
Tonight: Freshman Art and Culture Reception, 4 p.m., Institute of Contemporary Art
Learn how to get involved in the arts at Penn. Also, learn how not to be so overeager by trying to figure your life out in October of your first semester at college. Just a thought.
...followed by: Philadelphia Art and Culture Fair at Penn, 5 p.m., Institute of Contemporary Art
Will the guy in the armor in the event's cover photo be there? If not, we're not going.
Tonight: Guest speaker Chris Matthews for Marjorie Margolies' Clinton-in-Law course, 6:30 p.m., Fels Institute
THIS IS NOT A DRILL! Chris Matthews will be on campus, like, today! Admission is open, so we urge you all to find out if he's as much of a hardball as he claims ;)
Tuesday: IAA Table Talks: Iran & The Middle East, 6 p.m., Harrison RTL
Engage in some intellectually stimulating conversation with professor Brian Spooner, before you engage in some decidedly not intellectually stimulating conversation during Fall Break.
Wednesday: David Solomon: Co-Head of Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs, 12:30 p.m., JMHH G06
Wow, we bet this is the FIRST TIME someone from a bank has ever come to talk to students at Penn! And it's being held in Huntsman, of all places?! What's wrong with DRL?
Wednesday: The Annual "It's Sukkot!" Potluck and Celebration, 6:15 p.m., Clark Park
Otherwise known as The Annual "It's Fall Break!" And So We're Obviously Not Going To This, Celebration.
Wednesday: Liberty in North Korea Nomads Present: Jangmadang Tour, 8 p.m., JMHH 245
Get your cultural awareness on with this moving event, which explores ways in which we can affect change in North Korea.
Thursday: "Women for Wolf" Rally featuring Hillary Clinton, time TBD, National Constitution Center
HA, sucks for all of you going away for Fall Break! For those with the good sense to stay local, you don't want to miss our girl Hillary speaking at this event in support of gubernatorial (small tangent: what a funny word--wouldn't "governatorial" make so much more sense?!) candidate Tom Wolf.
Saturday: Bloktoberfest, 12 p.m., Broad & South-18th & South
Act like you went abroad by drinking your way through South Street. SOMEHOW we don't think it will be as glamorous as the real Oktoberfest. We bet your abroad friends would haughtily agree.
Sunday: Old City Fest, 12 p.m., Old City District (duh...)
The perfect way to close out Fall Break for those of you staying in Philly. Also, proof that the 215 has so much more to offer than Rittenhouse Square and Parc.
