Chanukah songs never sounded cool until this acapella group I heard at The White House tonight. @PennShabbatones pic.twitter.com/Ie4iGRbbBY

Guess who's probably having a better holiday season than you? Members of The Penn Glee Club and Penn Shabbatones, who performed at the White House and schmoozed with the Prez and First Lady earlier in the month! The would-be Warblers and Jewish a capella superstars performed on December 10th and 17th, respectively. And we're told that out of thousands of applicants, they earned two of the coveted 16 spots in The White House's holiday season performance series. We wonder why!
The Shabbatones, fittingly, performed at the White House Chanukah Party, where they SABSed with actress Emmy Rossum, as seen in the above tweet sent out to her 444,000+ followers. While it was the 'Tones first trip to the residence, The Glee Club (seen below posing outside La Casa Blanca) had rocked 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. previously – during Calvin Coolidge's presidency in 1926. Apparently Barack knew this and joked that "you guys still look pretty good" when the Club sang "Deck The Halls" during an impromptu private performance for the Obamas in the Diplomatic Reception Room (after a public show for 700+ party guests!).
In a true Christmas miracle, both groups got handshakes and photo-ops with the President, which will likely invade our news feeds in early 2015. Mazel tov all around!
