Wow, nice one!
Keeping in the spirit of April Fools’ Day, SPEC Concerts pulled a big fat practical joke by booking no one’s favorite mid-2000s emo-pop group, All-American Rejects, to headline the eighth biggest concert this side of the Schuylkill. Facing significant online backlash from students above the age of nine, SPEC has already let us in on the joke by loudly announcing that “it’s just a prank, bro.”
“Uh, you didn’t think we were serious did you?” a SPEC member told UTB. “All-American Rejects? That’s crazy," she said, laughing nervously. "We would never commit to an obvious PR disaster like that; we are totally in tune with the student body.” The SPEC representative then resumed their work, frantically calling every artist that has released music since 2014 and insisting that they have everything under control.
Additional reporting suggests that All-American Rejects was also fooled by the move. “Yeah, when they called us we were like, ‘Uh, are you sure you want us for this gig?,’” said frontman and certified rockstar Tyson Ritter. “We honestly thought it was a wrong number. Now that we know that it was a prank, it makes total sense!“
