Did Vineyard Vines run out of salmon colored shorts? No! This libertarian just wanted to swim against the current for a change. Michael Hansel (C ‘22) was a trout in a sea of salmon last Tuesday, a bold choice at such a critical time of year.
When asked about his thought process in choosing the trout shorts, Michael described his nightly routine. “My Mom always used to lay out my clothes for the next day on a chair next to my bed. But now that I don't live at home, she doesn’t do that anymore. So I have to pick out my clothes every day! I guess I was just feeling inspired by the trout color, you know, given this political climate,” Michael said. We nodded knowingly, because this climate certainly is politically trout-like.
Michael told us that he can be expected to make similarly shocking fashion choices in the future. His libertarian ideals, he said, cause him to be somewhat of a fish out of water when it comes to the current fashion trends. He cited John Locke’s ideas about the state of nature as a major player in his wardrobe choices. Makes sense.
