When asked for his greatest quality, Matt Oliver (W ‘20) would probably respond with his ability to multitask. While most people have trouble juggling tasks, Oliver thrives in environments where he’s overwhelmed — especially when it comes to the Internet.

“The more the merrier, I always say,” explained Oliver. “My grandmother used to tell me something about diamonds under pressure, and it’s stuck with me all these years. Well, not the saying itself, but the meaning behind it, you know? It’s such a good analogy for me, like, it really describes who I am as a person.”

However, when problems start piling up, they don’t slow down, and sometimes Matt Oliver bites off a little more than he can chew. After a marathon of Khan Academy econ lectures, extensive research on the CIMS course offerings, and looking up all of Ariana’s exes, Oliver realized he had a few too many tabs open. But for every tab he wanted to close, he wasn’t quite finished reading, or he definitely knew he’d come back to. But deep down, he knows he never will.
