You duck and roll across the floor, high-grade industrial scissors snip at the air where your throat was moments before. As you take off back up the basement steps, you hear Addie’s outraged growl. You were right! They do want to kill you (and not fuck you, thank God). 

You reach the top of the steps, Addie hot on your heels. Their towel lies discarded on the basement floor, revealing an athletic top and shorts. They were expecting a chase. Your sweat-drenched palms twist the basement door open and you throw yourself through the open door, slamming it shut behind you in Addie’s face. (Asshole — they’re still your cousin, after all.) You throw your back against the basement door as Addie maniacally stabs the scissors through the door's cheap wooden paneling. (You’re a bit terrified, but you can’t help but admire their energy!) Your heart gulps in your chest as you assess your options.
