Theresa Lee (C ‘23), who returned to her parents’ home in Bala Cynwyd, PA every weekend during the 2019-2020 academic year, recently admitted that she’s “actually starting to miss campus a little.”
Before quarantine, Theresa would typically walk from DRL to 30th Street Station after her Math 114 lecture on Thursday afternoons. There, she would board the 2:49 train on the Paoli-Thorndale line, arriving home in time to watch Hannah Montana reruns with her sister Stacy before Stacy’s middle school squash practice. On very special occasions, like the birthday of Theresa’s favorite horse, Timothée, her mother might even pick up Theresa and her laundry basket from campus. Theresa would arrive back on campus on Monday mornings, with a full bag of delicious goodies from her home to store in her mini-fridge and not share with her roommate.
Despite being completely disengaged from campus life at Penn (she used to be in GlobeMed, but decided she “just didn’t have the time to attend all those meetings”), even Theresa feels a sense of loss. “I really miss breakfast at the dining halls,” she lamented. “My mom won’t let me buy Lucky Charms.”
