You spill everything about your life to Ralph. Yes, everything. You let him know about all of the bullying, the piles of school work, and the insurmountable stress that have come to dominate your existence at Glendale High.
Ralph stops snapping his fingers, and his threatening demeanor is quickly replaced with an air of genuine concern.
"I am so sorry, man. Thank you for telling me about all of this." Ralph says, a soft and understanding look in his eyes. "You're free to use the practice rooms anytime you want, dude."
"Thank you, Ralph, and thanks for listening," you reply. "But what if Thad tries to tie me up and hoist me to the top of the flagpole again, like he always does?"
"If that ever happens, just give me a call," Ralph says with a wink, beckoning to the cabal of rabid saxophonists ruminating behind him.
With a gang of hardy saxophonists at your beck and call and unlimited access to the practice rooms, you feel like things are starting to look up for the first time in your life. You feel happy and cared for, but most important of all, you finally feel hope for the future.
Not needing it anymore, you switch off The Fray, head out the band room, and walk to sixth period with a smile.
~ GOOD END ~
