POEM OF THE WEEK: Heaven Looks a Lot Like Facebook Marketplace
April 10, 2023 at 7:24 pm
I sat at my laptop on a rainy spring night
Trying in vain to furnish my Sansom rental
The current tenant wouldn’t sell furniture without a fight
Next I tried Instagram, I was going mental
The messages I got were pricey and judgmental
Then my roommate told me about a special online space
Somewhere truly magical and transcendental
Heaven looks a lot like Facebook marketplace
On the very first page I saw the most enticing post
“Free blue velvet couch” it read in bold
“My dream couch” I said aloud, unafraid to boast
Sure, I was a little worried about mold
And it looked a kinda tired and old
Never mind that, I was drawn into the chase
I was ready to lug it to my dorm despite the cold
Heaven looks a lot like Facebook marketplace
I continued to scroll, looking for a platform for my bed
And read the listing “QUEEN BED FRAME”
It was exactly where I imagined I’d rest my head
It was classic and black, not at all lame
On it I could imagine hookups with my latest flame
I sent the seller a message, ready to close the case
Maybe I could get it cheaper if I played his game
Heaven looks a lot like Facebook marketplace
It has everything you’d want, in 10 miles or nearer
Ben and Jerry Dunks, Lego collection, Pink glass vase
Entertainment center, night light, vbig mirror
Heaven looks a lot like Facebook marketplace
