1950 College graduate P. Roy Vagelos and his wife Diana Vagelos made an $83.9 million donation to to the brothers of Saint Anthony’s Hall – marking the largest gift for the brotherhood to date.

The largest portion of this transformative gift, $50 million, will enhance their commitment to sick darties with better themes, live entertainment, and a state-of-the-art DJ board. Sayonara to Smirnoff, and hello to Patron, thanks to substantial support for a cutting-edge Veuve Clicquot Yellow Brut Champaign Keg.

“Diana and I have always been great believers in the power of basic science to find solutions to global problems,” Vagelos wrote in the announcement. In light of their wisdom, Hall Penngineers hired general contractors to oversee the downstairs bathroom renovation initiative. The bathroom will be temporarily closed for the installation of new flat surface facilities as part of their ongoing efforts to enhance functionality and aesthetics. The construction period is estimated to last into spring, so alternative bathroom facilities will be available until the end of winter.

The gift is also establishing a permanent endowment to The Hall’s committee on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The brotherhood rests on the pillars that diversity brings together individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, from Greenwich and Charleston to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. As a role models for the upcoming 2024 PC, the committee advocates that understanding and respecting different cultures contribute to a more inclusive environment that enriches fraternity.
