With Halloweekend just around the corner, it’s time to get your Halloween bod bender ready! You gather your gym essentials – water bottle, headphones, diy Penn Leads the Vote cropped muscle tank – and march to the Pottruck Health and Fitness Center ready to hit a new PR. You walk through the glass doors, swipe your PennCard, and head towards the stairs.

OHMYGODWHATISTHAT

That elderly couple over there? Oh, that’s just William and Louise Meiklejohn.

Their senile smiles and ghoulish complexions? Don’t be rude.

Their beady eyes that seem to follow you? They went to Wharton, that’s just how they are.

Mr. Meiklejohn’s likeness to a chubby Frankenstein? Nah he’s a chiller.

Although the portrait of the Meiklejohns can be off-putting or even terrifying for gym goers, UTB assures you after extensive research and investigation that they’re pretty chill once you get to know them.

So go forward with your squats, your bench press, your assisted pull ups free of fear. Struggle up that V1 route (much harder than it looks) on the climbing wall knowing that while yes, William and Louise are always watching, they are not judging.

Consider stopping by their portrait for a second when you visit their gym. Say hello. Bow. Leave an offering. And once you’ve formed a good rapport, you will understand that the Meiklejohns’ portrait is actually a fitting and tasteful addition to Pottruck.
