After witnessing multiple instagram stories capturing this Penn student finishing the Philadelphia Half Marathon, the same thought suddenly crept into every other students’ head: Wow, she can definitely eat whatever she wants for like the next two days now.

A day after running the Philadelphia half-marathon, Sam Wechsler (W ‘25) reaped the prime benefit of running a half-marathon: an insane caloric deficit. Still in her foil heat sheet, witnesses reported seeing Wechsler ordering food at Raising Cane’s, Maki, UPenn Halal Gyro, and even the secret Chick-fil-A on Drexel's campus–all before 1pm!

When polled, students reported being extremely jealous of Wechsler’s incredible accomplishment: not the fact that she ran a grueling 13.1 miles straight, but her newfound ability to eat a full pint of Ben & Jerry’s Tonight Dough guilt-free.

Others who ran the half-marathon reported feeling similar bouts of calm, inner-peace, and just general Nirvana while drinking a large Wawa milkshake after dinner. When asked what it felt like to eat a sweet-treat without a second thought, the half-marathon community’s response was simple: “Isn’t that why we ran it?!”

At press time, the Penn community was hit with another shocking blow of jealousy: Students who ran the full-marathon can eat whatever they want for the next three days now.
