Sang Kee and Drinker's Come To Chestnut
November 25, 2009 at 10:16 am
Chestnut has become quite the culinary destination this semester. First Sprinkles and Blockley (poutine!) set up shop, and now Sang Kee Noodle House and Tom Drinker's West are the new kids on the block.
We reviewed Sang Kee's Chinatown location in the Fall Dining Guide, but it looks like they opened a West Philly outpost in the Sheraton (36th and Chestnut) yesterday. We're excited to check it out because while steamed Shanghai juicy buns are not the same thing as steamed pork buns, they are still incredibly delicious. The Noodle House will combine elements from the Chinatown Duck House menu with those from the Wynnewood Asian Bistro menu.
Down the street Drinker's opened up Tom Drinker's West at 39th and Chestnut. The pizzeria-pub's menu consists of pizza (duh), sandwiches and six different kinds of fries, plus plenty of beer. Drinker's will be open for dinner during the week (and both lunch and dinner on weekends) with a 2 a.m. closing time every night.
And while it isn't Chestnut-local, the Radian's much-delayed Tap House has changed its name to City Tap House and is expected to open around Christmas.
